LeBron James Believes He is the GOAT After Beating the Warriors in 2016

LeBron James is usually humble when it comes to talking about himself. James rarely let his ego get in the way of his greatness. James finally revealed how he feels about the GOAT debate,

“That one right there made me the greatest player of all time,” James said during an appearance on the ESPN+ series “More Than An Athlete.”

“I was super, super ecstatic to win one for Cleveland because of the 52-year drought. … The first wave of emotion was when everyone saw me crying, like, that was all for 52 years of everything in sports that’s gone on in Cleveland. And then after I stopped I was like — that one right there made you the greatest player of all time.”

“Everybody was just talking — how (the Warriors) were the greatest team of all time, like it was the greatest team ever assembled,” James said. “And for us to come back, you know, the way we came back in that fashion I was like, ‘You did, you did something special.’

James and Kyrie Irving each scored 41 points in Game 5, and James scored 41 again in Game 6. Irving drilled what proved to be the winning three in the closing stretch of Game 7, while James notched a triple-double and a legendary chase-down block on Andre Iguodala.

In all, the four-time MVP averaged 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.3 blocks per game in that series, earning Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years and himself his third Larry O’Brien Trophy and third NBA Finals MVP.

Some will say count the rings; others will point to physical dominance and influencing the game in a number of ways. Both sides will attempt to use generational differences in rules and playing styles to their advantage. End of the day, James’ resume is still being written and more greatness is yet to be achieved. To be the greatest, you absolutely have to believe that you are. Jordan left the game twice. James is elevating the game in more ways than one.
