CW Ordered Pilot Episode of ‘Batwoman’ Starring Ruby Rose after “Arrow” Debut

The CW’s Batwoman project, starring Ruby Rose, has been given a pilot pickup order and Game of Thrones director David Nutter will helm the pilot.

As reported by EW, this pilot pickup order follows the DC crossover event that introduced Ruby Rose’s Batwoman and took place in three parts across The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl.

Rose’s version of Kate Kane is an openly gay superhero ready to rock and roll…but with her own personal battles to fight before she can truly focus on being a hero to anyone else.

She made her biggest splash during the Arrow episode of the crossover event (night two if fans are keeping track), as she picked up Bruce Wayne’s slack in pretty much every way in Gotham.

EW also has the official description of the series, which is as follows;

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

This pilot is The CW’s first official order of the season — but look for more superheroes from Berlanti coming down the pike as TV’s busiest geek continues pushing for more genre content. The CW will be re-airing the crossover event beginning on Jan. 7.
