SOURCE SPORTS: Tim Hardaway Believes He Isn’t in the Basketball Hall of Fame Because of Gay Comments Made in 2007

Before this current Golden State Warriors’ dynasty, there was a formidable trio in the ’90s known as “Run TMC”. Run TMC consistent of  Basketball Hall of Famers Chris Mullin and Mitch Richmond, and Tim Hardaway.

Hardaway is the only player to have not been given the honor. In a recent interview, Hardaway explains that he believes it’s due to his comments about gay people back in 2007.

“Well, you know, the reason I’m not in is because of what I said in 2007 about gay people,” Hardaway said according to ESPN via Hoops Hype. “That’s why I’m not in right now, and I understand it. I hurt a lot of people’s feelings and it came off the wrong way and it was really bad of me to say that. Since then, I’ve turned a wrong into a right. My parents used to always tell me, ‘If you do something wrong, look it in the eye. Don’t back down from it and be scared of it. Go make it right and make people understand that you made a mistake.’”

Hardaway had a decorated 13-year career that featured five All-Star appearances. He averaged 17.7 points and 8.2 assists per game and spawned one of the most legendary crossovers in NBA history.

Hardaway says he has learned from his mistakes and changed his ways.

“Since then, I’ve turned a wrong into a right,” Hardaway said. “My parents used to always tell me, ‘If you do something wrong, look it in the eye. Don’t back down from it and be scared of it. Go make it right and make people understand that you made a mistake.’ And that’s what I did. I’m trying to do what’s right, supporting gay people and transgender people.

Reebok Opens Shanghai Fashion Week With Blockbuster Runway Show

On March 27, Reebok kicked off its extensive presence at Shanghai Fashion Week (SFW) with the opening show at Taipinghu Xintiandi, featuring appearances from rapper Future and Chinese superstar William Chan.

The runway show, themed “The Other Side,” featured top styles and innovations from Reebok’s upcoming Fall/Winter 2019 collection, as well as a ‘see-now-buy-now’ moment featuring the brand’s Spring/Summer 2019 styles, all of which were available for purchase immediately following the event.

The key style shown at SFW was the ADVANCED CONCEPTS’ Sole Fury designed by the original “shoe mash up” creator, Helen Kirkum. In the same way Sole Fury took one of Reebok’s most recognizable shoes, the Instapump Fury, and created a new silhouette rooted in performance, Kirkum completely broke down the 3D Opus 98, Instapump Fury, Run.R 96 and Ventilator silhouettes to create three unique visions of Sole Fury for SFW.

As one of the partner brands of SFW, China’s biggest and most influential contemporary fashion platform, Reebok demonstrates its passionate belief that China is a leading global powerhouse at the forefront of style.

“Whether through innovations like The Pump technology that gave birth to the Instapump Fury or brand partnerships like CrossFit and Les Mills that helped spark a global fitness movement, Reebok has always been daring and bold, willing to do what many other sports brands have not,” said Matt O’Toole, President of Reebok. “Now we’re doing it again at Shanghai Fashion Week. We know the future of style, trend and innovation will come from Asia, especially China.”

Reebok’s multi-layered presence at SFW includes a partnership with Business of Fashion’s inaugural BoF China Prize, which will award $100,000 to one of six emerging designer finalists. Each finalist will be invited to work with Reebok to create an exclusive sneaker. The BoF China Prize winner will be announced during SFW on March 29th and will receive dedicated mentorship from Reebok, which will culminate in a show at London Fashion Week in September 2019.

“A huge part of our job as a global brand is nurturing the industry’s up-and-coming creators, helping them grow,” continued O’Toole. “With the BoF partnership, we hope to get the chance to mentor some of the best emerging talent in the industry. An investment in China and Chinese designers is an investment in the future of Reebok.”

Reebok’s participation at SFW follows the recent opening of its Creation Center Asia (CCA). Headquartered in Shanghai, CCA is dedicated to uncovering and exploring local consumer trends that can influence hyper-relevant products to the Chinese and other Asian markets.

“China drove Reebok’s growth in the Asia-Pacific in 2018, and we want to recognize and celebrate this fast-emerging Reebok community,” said O’Toole. “It’s crucial for us to sincerely engage with these trendsetting consumers as we further our mission to be a truly global sports and lifestyle brand.”

“I’ve been working on bringing this to you since last year! You know how important juicing has been for me, and now you can subscribe and order your own cases to drink at home or at work/school/on the go,” she wrote back in February.

Yee has always been an advocate for juicing and was involved in the current health trend prior to its millennial prime time. In a 2017 feature with NBCBLK, she admitted to being a junk food consumer as a child and revealed her dedication to juicing was triggered by an episode with high cholesterol during her college days. “I rather have my green juice in the morning. It keeps you even,” she told the network.

‘Drink Fresh Juice’ can be purchased in 16 oz packs of 6 through their website. They are also available at a couple of Brooklyn bound in-store locations including ‘Skal Bklyn’ and Caribbean Kitchen and Bar ‘Imani.’

Trina Braxton Engaged

Congratulations are in order for a certain super sweet Braxton sister.

Trina Braxton announced on Thursday’s episode of “Sister Circle” that she’s engaged to her love Von Scales.
According to Trina, Von proposed while in Napa Valley after dinner with the Braxtons.

She also shared a sweet post on Instagram.

“My fabulous fiance’ and I @sistercircletv . Thank you @ricardobastajewelry for assisting @vonscales. I love you baby,” Trina captioned the post.

Von’s proposal actually went down during a birthday dinner for Tamar Braxton who at first pettily pouted that her b-day celebration wasn’t enough before her sister’s big surprise.  According to Tamar, she expected more effort from her sisters who bought her a pair of sunglasses.

“I give out Gucci bags for Christmas, I’m just saying it’s my birthday and I got a pair of glasses between six girls?!” said Tamar.

Tamar’s since apologized for her behavior and she’s voicing her public approval of her sister’s hubby to be.

“Sometimes you get so caught up in “ME” you Fck up not only your night, but others as well! Looking at the bigger picture, I’m so excited and Happy for @trinabraxton1 and @vonscales! He’s a FANTASTIC dude and (can y’all believe I actually like him a lot😌) although It was a weekend planned to celebrate my birthday, it was more about a weekend with FAMILY!! And that’s something that REALLY matters.

Although I will rock my sunglasses and hang my card on the wall, it’s ungrateful and juvenile to undermine the fact that you two amazing people found true love and deserve each other and all the happiness in the world💕 I love u both so much and congratulations!” wrote Tamar.

Now that was very mature of her to apologize.

Congratulations to Trina and Von! We wish them all the happiness!

Today In Hip Hop History: The Source Magazine Remembers Freaky Tah Of The Lost Boyz 20 Years Later

It was a Sunday morning in 1999, where Raymond “Freaky Tah” Rogers of the legendary Lost Boyz was attending a party for a friend. Tragically, while leaving the party hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Queens, NY, Tah was shot in retaliation for another murder he had nothing to do with.

According to a report on the case, published by MTV News at the time, “The feud that resulted in the death of Freaky Tah (born Raymond Rogers) can be traced back at least to the November [of the previous year], when a member of the Lost Boyz was robbed.” It continued with, “After the robbery… someone police believe was a ‘hanger-on’ in the Lost Boyz camp attempted to retaliate by shooting a man named Michael Saunders, who was a member of the Hellraisers camp. But Saunders, who was killed in the December shooting, actually had no involvement in the robbery.”

Two decades later, Freaky Tah is still remembered and missed by the Hip Hop culture while the LB Fam sans DJ Spigg Nice, whose still serving his 37 years for armed robbery, recognize and commemorate the crew’s fallen soldier. Salute to Mr. Cheeks, Pretty Lou and the rest of the Lost Boyz family.
