Today in Hip Hop History: 27 Years Ago Dr. Dre Released The Chronic

Today in Hip Hop History, Dr. Dre released his solo debut album The Chronic on December 15, 1992 solidifying himself as a solo superstar.

The debut studio album by former N.W.A. group member and recording artist Dr. Dre was released on December 15, 1992, by his own record label Death Row Records and distributed by Interscope Records. “Nuthin’ but a “G” Thang”, “Fuck wit Dre Day” and “Let Me Ride”became ten Billboard singles and instant hip hop classics receiving heavy radio and TV rotation. Showcasing hard-hitting drums fused with gangsta beast, Dr. Dre added another notch to his production belt and became a huge force to reckon in the industry.

As a teenage girl I remember the shift that happened when this album came out. I was instantly drawn to the potty-mouthed, lyrical gangsta hailing from the west coast.
I remember writing down the lyrics to ‘Ain’t No Fun’ and being amazed at the poetic charm of Snoop.Dogg and the Dogg Pound. As he continued to flourish into the burgeoning mogul he’s become today, Dr. Dre taught us that you can start all over when you focus on talent.

Salute to this classic album as we go back in time and celebrate The Chronic.

Colby Covington Gets His #MAGAJaw Broken By ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ Kamaru Usman

Oh, what a lovely day.

A Trump-supporting UCF fighter is trending after his jaw was broken by someone from one of those  so-called “s**hole countries.” Colby Covington has openly championed Deranged Dorito, donning MAGA has and tweeting Trump and his cronies thanking them for their support.

It’s his jaw that’s going to need support however after last night’s UFC 245 match at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. Kamaru Usman known as the “Nigerian Nightmare” was defending his welterweight title and won by technical knockout at the 4:10 mark of the fifth round.

Usman gloated about his win afterward—-and so did social media who gladly made #MAGAJaw trend noting that Usman’s powerful fists broke Covington’s jaw.

“I told everyone I would keep it standing and knock him out and that’s exactly what I did,” said Usman.. “He chose not to shoot. I did what I wanted. I knew I was hitting hard to the body; I like hitting him there because it’s soft. I wasn’t worried about hitting him in specific spots, I just wanted to hit him over and over wherever I could.

“He talked a lot going into this, so this was a respect thing,” he added. “I had a responsibility to go in there and teach him a lesson.”

As for Covington, he’s, of course, crying foul and claiming that the ref “f***d him.”

Suuuuuuure! He’s also added another statement on Instagram.

Blah, blah, blah—-BYE #MAGAJAW!

Antonio Brown Says He is Giving Up White Women in 2020

Antonio Brown is back to let the NFL know he wants to play, blasting other leagues and also attacking Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Somehow he still has access to his own Twitter, but his last statement seems to read as a resolution:

While Brown seemingly continues to unravel on Instagram, Bleacher Report details there are still at least 20 teams that are interested in his services. Those teams include every potential playoff team. The only one who appeared to be out on Brown was his last team, The New England Patriots.
